Case Study #4

Transforming Leaders

How Equiida helped an Energy industry heavyweight to become a contender again

  • CLIENT

A multi-billion-pound utilities company with over 25,000 employees

  • GOAL

To shape the leadership team so it was fit to re-invigorate the business

  • CHALLENGE

Bringing together a leadership team that had undergone significant change

  • IMPACT

Increase team performance, enhanced sense of true belonging and a psychologically safe workplace

Challenge

Our client was a multinational utilities company with revenue into ten figures. However, it was struggling with a lack of new routes to market, poor customer feedback and inefficient processes and procedures - all the while  losing market share.

Radical changes at senior leadership level had seen a dramatic drop in headcount and a remodelling of the executive team.

Equiida worked with the Managing Director (MD) and the Executive Team of the largest business within the group to strengthen the four key areas:

  1. Alignment

  2. Trust

  3. Belonging

  4. Execution

In addition, they wanted to ensure the psychological safety within the team was enhanced, enabling candid conversations and a feedback-rich culture to flourish.

Solution

Bespoke Leadership Team Effectiveness Programme

We designed and delivered a bespoke Leadership Team Effectiveness Programme that blended team workshops, 1:1 leadership coaching, observation and feedback.

The Leadership Team Effectiveness programme design was supported by data analytics captured through surveys, anonymised coaching data and regular client feedback.

The post-survey data enabled us to measure the impact of the programme. We were also able to provide the team with recommendations to continue their development moving forward.

Impact

  • Increased Team Capability

Team capabilities soared by 18% in relation to task execution

  • Enhanced Psychological Safety

Promoted psychological safety within the workplace culture as the first step in making all employees feel welcome to share their ideas, resulting in a 13% increase in psychological safety amongst employees.

  • Fostered Workplace Belonging

Increased sense of belonging in the workplace by 13%, transforming team effectiveness and creating a better environment for everyone.

  • Improved Team Effectiveness

Effective work management and increased collaboration between the team members led to a 16% boost in team effectiveness and performance.
